For those who struggle to play the mod on linux and constantly recieve the “steam must be running error”, I have developed a file structure for cod4x 21.3 so that the modification can work on linux. Files were tested on the latest version of linux mint cinnamon. Just download and drop the CallofDuty4MW folder at /home/yourusername/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/7940/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local. Files were organized and placed just to get it working, there will be duplicates that may be in the wrong place but dont affect the performance of the mod. Feel free to re-organize and upload any corrections made.

Once the files are dropped into the “Local” directory folder, launch COD4 multiplayer on steam and it may show an error saying there a fault in the iw3mp.exe. Launch the .exe through wine and have it repair itself then launch COD4 multiplayer again through steam.
