LAN Party - CoD4x + Promod

Hi guys,
many thanks for you tremendous work on rendering CoD4 still alive!!

Together with 3 other friends, we want to have a LAN party soon including some old CoD titles. One of them being CoD4 but with promod.

I have never run servers/know much about technicalities.
My questions are the following:

  1. Will running a server directly through CoD4MP → Start new server → Dedicated → LAN, be enough for us to connect together while we’d be on the same WiFi/Hamachi/Radmin VPN?
  2. If we’d like to have this experience on promod, then we’d have to just start the game with promod and then perform step no. 1 and it will be ok?
  3. As for the test I started such server and can connect to it myself (“CoD4 Console” started running and closed my game and had to run the game once more). I am unable to command the server anyhow. Should the commands be set via in-game console or always via the “CoD4 Console” that’s running in the background?
  4. I can’t seem to know how can I log in into the rcon, because I don’t know the password. Is it set somewhere by default?

  1. Yes but best to setup a promod mod with a cfg and then start a server that way.
  2. See above
  3. This is normal, best to have things saved in a cfg you exec when starting the server tho, otherwise you will need to input a lot of commands manually into the console
  4. There is no default rcon password otherwise anyone could login to your rcon. You need to set a rcon password

we have managed to use a free hosting service to set a server and it (thank god) allowed to set a promod right away. It wasn’t that convenient as if we would play on our own server, but managed to have several matches:)
