I have two main problems with my cod4x servers.
I followed the instructions here on this site and everything is working fine.
Me and a friend for example can join the server and really everything is working EXCEPT that it won’t accept my authtoken from cod4master.
I logged into a steam account and got the token (tried 3 tokens so far → same problem), put it in the server.cfg → set sv_authtoken “token”
But the server log still says “sv_authtoken is invalid! Abandoning master server registration”.
What I tried so far is to put the token with +set sv_authtoken into my startup script of the dedrun shortcut and after this did not work I tried it with putting my ipv6 into my shortcut script. Did not work either… (apparently fixed it for some other guys)
The servers are running (without being in the server list) on my public IP. The friend of mine just typed in connect 000.000.000.000:00000 and we can play.
This brings me to my next problem. The public IP adress.
It’s normal that it changes every time you reconnect to the internet and for me every day because my router reconnects every day at around 6am (it says it does this before the provider forces the router to restart).
BUT of course I do not want the IP of my server to change every day…
So how do you guys fix that?? Some say do it over dynDNS Server but in my comprehension the IP changes regardless of that.
Do you guys buy a static public IP at your provider?
Please tell me how.
I am no pro in such things but I am trying and not completely retarded.
I can post my config here if needed.
Thanks in advance for everything!
Glad cod4 survived already this far <3
First, you need to make sure your steam account is not limited, so at least you bought 1 game.
Second, yes, you need a free dyndns provider, for example duckdns.org
It will run as a service in your machine, and every time your IP changes, it will change on the host automatically, and you will be reachable again on the same hostname.
More advanced, you rent a cheap VPS, that will have static IP and host your server there.
Providers in EU such as: hetzner.com or OVH, or Contabo, you name it.
Preferred a provider close to your area, so your ping will not suffer, do your research.
Can you please help me with that? I don’t know how.
On noip.com I have a hostname, ip and I can create a DDNS key.
And I know how to get to the dynDNS site on my router.
So typing in all those infos and thats it?
If my friends saves my server as a favorite. And then the ip changes. Will he have to add it again or will the server stay in his favorites?
Do I even have to write my public IP in the config then?
